The MGA Foundation are now calling for entries for the William and Winifred Bowness Photography Prize.
This year marks the 13th Bowness Photography Prize. The prize has become an important survey of contemporary photographic practice and one of the most prestigious prizes in the country, providing Australian photographers with the opportunity to exhibit at one of Australia's leading public galleries. Last year saw two exciting developments with the prize becoming acquisitive and the cash prize awarded to the winner increased to $30,000 to ensure that the prize continues to provide a significant boost to an artist's career.
We are excited to announce that the judges for this year include Dr Michael Brand, Director, Art Gallery of New South Wales, Anouska Phizacklea, Director, Monash Gallery of Art and artist David Rosetzky.
The Bowness Photography Prize is an initiative of the MGA Foundation, established to promote excellence in Australian photography, the prize provides a platform for artists at all stages of their career. There are no thematic restrictions and all forms of photographic practice are invited. Previous finalists have included established and emerging photographers, art and commercial photographers, including Pat Brassington (2013), Joseph McGlennon (2015) and Polixeni Papapetrou (2017).

Entry specifications . The William and Winifred Bowness Photography Prize is administered by Monash Gallery of Art on behalf of the Trustees of the MGA Foundation. Each year a panel of three judges consider hundreds of entries and curates an exhibition of finalists before settling upon a single winner.
