Held in conjunction with the 2010 William & Winifred Bowness Photography Prize, over four Saturdays from 2-23 October 2010.
TIM HANDFIELD will present a step-by-step, basic to intermediate course designed to demystify digital photography and give you the essential concepts and techniques to take better digital photographs and to manage them through to superb digital prints. The techniques presented have been distilled from Tim's 30 years as an art photographer and master printer, including 20 years working digitally.

Explanation and comparison of available digital printing processes: Chromogenic/Type C, Ink Jet, Dye Sublimation

Practical calibration methods to ensure consistent, predictable results with your chosen printer or photographic lab service

Preparing files for printing: file format, colourspace, bit depth, resolution, sharpening

Print viewing session: comparing a set of the same images printed onto various photographic and inkjet papers to understand the creative potential of different materials and processes
