CLOSING THIS SUNDAY 11 DECEMBER!

John Street uses an ultra large format camera to compose unique, one-off photographs. He describes his process as ‘painting with light’.

To produce each of these images a sheet of 20" x 24" (approx. 51 x 61 cms) photographic paper is fitted to the back of Street’s custom-made camera and exposed for up to 45 minutes. In most instances, the subject matter consists of foliage, feathers and fabric, which have been creatively arranged on a sheet of glass in front of the camera. During the extended exposures, various light sources are used to illuminate the subject from different angles and to modulate the spectrum of colour being captured by the camera.
