Artist statement: This image deals with the issue of human intervention upon our landscape. There are very few natural places left on earth that have not been imposed on by humankind.
I invite you to detach from the beauty of the grand vista and feel the disorientation this landscape represents. Our interference in the course of nature’s flow, is questioned.
This print is made using the photogravure process. A combination of photography and traditional etching. The hand-made print allows me to work at a slower pace. It gives me the opportunity to consider and ponder the subject and my intentions. The materiality of the photogravure print echoes the preciousness of these landscapes that are being re-negotiated by our interference.
