Ponch HAWKES

Artist statement: A new pup ripped apart a blue and yellow dog bed
As I looked down all I could see was Ukraine.
An invasion, a new war in Europe, the return of the iron curtain
And a whole new meaning for globalisation.
Nationalism, fighting for the flag, fighting for the land
Women and children in puffer jackets fleeing through the snow
And now the pallbearers are wearing t-shirts.
What is the measure against which we reconcile the numbers
of the dead?
