2021 Finalists

Ingvar KENNE

Artist statement: As far back as I can remember, I have longed for a primary connection to land, no matter where I have found myself in the world.

I have found absolute solitude on country across Australia and on my own patch of bush surrounded by Wollemi National Park, a place off the grid without electricity or running water.

Here I can appreciate the grandeur as well as the minute details and changes in season. The connection is full and uninterrupted; an extension of the timeless country surrounding me.

While on country, it is impossible to ignore times gone. The deepest of connection and coexistence. It is like circling back and forward in time. Time becomes non-linear.
