Artist statement: After a brief conversation with film director Charles Williams, I found myself working on the set of a short film with a humble budget shot in Dandenong, Victoria. The film touched upon sensitive topics including mental health and adolescent development - topics which I find personally resonate with me.
While photographing behind the scenes, the gaffers shut down the lighting in order to light the next shot. The natural light flowed through a tiny bathroom window in the dilapidated house where we were filming allowing the film’s protagonist (Yared Scott) to be overshadowed by his father (Mandela Mathia).
All these creatures featured at the Cannes Film Festival where it was awarded the Palme d’Or.
