CLOSING SOON! Cecil Beaton called him ‘The Master’. He was the most famous photographer in the world during the 1910s and '20s.

The rediscovered works of Emil Otto Hoppé (British, German born, 1878-1972) come to Melbourne for the first time at Monash Gallery of Art from 9 June to 29 July 2012. This exhibition includes stunning portraits of the most famous cultural identities, literary figures, artists and dancers of the era. Not to mention Hoppé’s exploration of the rapidly changing streets of London, often using a hidden camera.

Hoppé Portraits: Society, Studio & Street was organised by the National Portrait Gallery, London in collaboration with Curatorial Assistance and the EO Hoppé Estate Collection and is circulated by Curatorial Assistance Traveling Exhibitions, Pasadena, California.
