Artist statement: I use photography to connect with people and I enjoy the idea of portraiture as a collaborative and intimate exchange. My work explores concepts around identity and queerness, performance and play. Lately, I’m interested in queer subcultures and the way people express themselves through dress and disguise.

I spent twelve months between 2017–18 working on my first major project, Honcho Disko. For this series, I photographed the performers and punters of a local cabaret bar that hosts a variety of drag and queer performance art. The portraits chronicle a radiant community of artists, dancers, drag queens and habitués of Collingwood’s queer nightlife.
